Baginsky, Adolf Aron

Baginsky, Adolf Aron
(1843-1918)
   German founder of modern paediatrics. Born in Ratibor, Silesia, he studied medicine at the University of Berlin. In 1881 he joined the faculty of paediatrics and later became professor. Together with Rudolf Virchow, he founded the chidren's hospital, Kaiser und Kaiserin Friedrich Krankenhaus. In 1879 he founded and served as editor of the journal Archiv fur Kinderheilkunde. His writings include Lehrbuch der Kinderheilkunde.
